Dr. Austin Strohbehn specializes in LASIK surgery, advanced technology cataract surgery (the use of new technological devices or intraocular lenses to target precise surgical results, to increase safety, and to reduce astigmatism or the effects of presbyopia), and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. He also treats ocular emergencies and common eye disorders such as diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and dry eye. Dr. Strohbehn holds medical licenses, sees patients, and performs surgery in the states of South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska.

Dr. Strohbehn graduated from Iowa State summa cum laude with a degree in biology. He then moved to Iowa City where he went to medical school at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Dr. Strohbehn went on to complete both his internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Missouri (Mizzou; Columbia, MO). He graduated ophthalmology residency as chief resident. Dr. Strohbehn received extensive surgical training with the latest technology and advances in the field of ophthalmology and is excited about bringing these cutting-edge services to the Siouxland community. He has a passion for working with his patients to achieve their best possible outcome.

He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He has published numerous articles both online and in peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Strohbehn is a native of Council Bluffs, IA. His wife, Alisa, is a native of Primghar, IA. They have two little children and Siouxland was the perfect place for them to raise their family between their hometowns.  When Dr. Strohbehn is not in the operating room, he enjoys going on walks with his family, exercising, riding bikes, and playing golf and tennis.
